How To Make Cannabis Infused Ice Cream

Making cannabis infused ice cream is actually alot easier than it sounds! You actually don’t need an ice cream maker. I’m a believer that less is more, and I try to keep my kitchen appliances to a minimum (also because counter space is hot real estate!). If you have a Vitamix blender, or any powerful blender, you can make ice cream! And if you don’t have a blender, as long as you have an electric whisk you’ll be able to make a creamy homemade ice cream. And if you don’t have an electric whisk, I mean it’s technically possible to just churn with your hands… but I don’t recommend it.

In this recipe, I used coconut cream instead of regular cow’s milk cream, but you can use any type of cream you’d like! I personally used coconut cream because I don’t do that well with dairy. The coconut cream also adds a light nutty flavour to the ice cream!

To make the ice cream infused, I used my Ardent Fx to decarboxylate dried cannabis flower, and then infused the coconut cream. Once that was done, I blended up the coconut cream with cocoa powder, dates, vanilla extract, and almond milk to create the ice cream. I blended it enough so that it was well churned. I then added it to a glass container and froze it for an entire day. The Ardent made the infusion process super easy, and I highly recommend this device! Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Easy and fun to make, and easy to clean up

  • No cannabis weed taste!

  • Naturally sweetened, no artificial sugars

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Coconut Cream: You can use regular cows milk heavy cream to make your ice cream. Use coconut cream for a vegan and dairy free option.

  • Almond Milk: You can use any type of dairy free milk or regular milk. The purpose of this ingredient is to thin out the coconut cream.

  • Vanilla Extract: As always, I recommend using real vanilla extract and not the artificial one. It is going to be more expensive but it’s worth it and you don’t need to use that much!

  • Dates: I used pitted dates because I like the taste and texture. You can use any type of sweetener of choice.

Tips and Tricks for Success

  1. Chill your ice cream for 3-5 hours for a softer ice cream, or chill for 24 hours for a harder ice cream

  2. Add more almond milk or ice to your ice cream if you want a less rich / thick ice cream

  3. Run your ice cream scoop under hot water before scooping the ice cream - this will help with getting a nice round and full scoop

Hello! I’m Anna and I’m a cannabis recipe developer and digital content creator with a huge passion for food and the plant. I love creating healthy and delicious cannabis infused recipes as I believe it’s a great way to consume the plant. I’m very lucky to be living in a country like Canada, where cannabis is legalized recreationally and medically.

Outside of making infused recipes, I’m an advocate and educator for the plant, working to end stigmas. I believe that just because you consume the plant, it does not define who you are or your success as an individual. Cannabis consumers come from all walks of life, and their choice behind consumption should be respected.
