HOW MUCH CANNABIS OIL SHOULD YOU USE?

In my recipe, I only used 1 tsp of cannabis oil, specifically CBD oil because this particular oil I had was rather herby and potent. 1 tsp of the CBD oil that I used equates to 10mg of CBD, which is an appropriate dosage for me if it’s just an infused meal. It’s important to know what your personal dosage is, and never rely on someone to tell you what your own dose should be. The rule of thumb is always to start low, and go slow. Start off with a few mg of CBD or THC, hang out for an hour or two, and see how you feel. There’s many factors that can affect how much dosage is required in order to trigger the psychoactive or desired effects (ie. mood, stomach fullness, sleep, etc.) so don’t be alarmed if you’re using a dosage that worked yesterday, but not today.

INGREDIENTS (+sUBSTITUTIONS)

  • Rigatoni Pasta: Use any pasta shape that you like. I chose rigatoni for this recipe because I like how rigatoni picks up alot of sauce.

  • Cremini Mushrooms: You can use any mushroom you like, white mushrooms, button mushrooms, and much more!

  • Garlic Cloves: If you’re a garlic lover like me, don’t be shy with the garlic! The aromas that you get from sautéing garlic with shallots and mushrooms is absolutely incredible.

  • Coconut Milk/Cream: You can use either a coconut milk or cream for this recipe. Cream is going to give the pasta a thicker consistency, and milk is going to be less thick of a sauce.

  • Fresh Parsley: If you don’t have fresh parsley, use dried parsley flakes.

  • Vegan Parmesan Cheese: For a non-vegan option, use regular parmesan cheese or even pecorino romano. Any pungent cheese will do!

  • Cannabis Infused Olive Oil: You could technically substitute the cannabis olive oil for MCT oil, or even a cannabis butter. If you want to use cannabis butter instead, add the cannabutter to the mushrooms instead of the sauce.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR SUCCESS

  1. Make sure you add the cannabis olive oil directly to the coconut milk and cream. Cannabinoids are lipid which means they bind better to fat based ingredients. The last thing you want is to leave any cannabis oil on the pan!

  2. Cut all your ingredients ahead of time so that you have a mise-en-place situation. Because there are so many little ingredients in this dish, you’ll want to make sure you have everything washed and cut up so you can just focus on cooking.
